Disc Filtration

Disc filtration is an answer to strict environmental discharge limits for phosphorus and suspended solids. It is an energy efficient method for tertiary treatment in activated sludge plants. Efficient phosphorus removal requires normally coagulant and polymer addition. The process is based on disc shaped filtration units, and water flows through them by gravity. Energy is consumed only, when dirty discs needs to be cleaned. The discs start to rotate and cleaning equipment sprays them with the treated water. There are good experiences from the use of disc filters in Finland. They are used instead of traditional sand filters.

ARTASFin Oy can deliver disc filters manufactured by MITA Water Technologies S.r.l.
